Rising 6th-Rising 10th Graders
Join us as we explore the classic music and dance from the Golden Age of Broadway! Campers will learn music and dance to a variety of songs, which they will perform for families on the final day of camp. This camp is part of our TAP SINGS TOGETHER show choir program, where children of all ages receive performance coaching on musical theatre songs performed as an ensemble. Beginning this fall, TAP SINGS TOGETHER will rehearse
in-person! Children will audition to be part of the show choir, which will rehearse each week and perform at various TAP events throughout the year. This camp is a perfect introduction to the program, ideal for children in 6th through 10th grade who would like to develop their musical theatre performance skills.
Camp runs from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday, July 12th through Friday, July 16th. The camp will be taught by Mrs. Alexis Kinlaw and Ms. Jordan Briggers. $250/child.
Rising 5th-Rising 9th Graders
This camp will introduce campers to a diverse array of performance topics. Each day the campers will learn about, and practice with, a different element of performance. This could include anything from improvisation to ancient theatre, musical theatre to playwriting, scenework to stand-up comedy, or even niche topics such as puppetry, creative movement, Shakespeare, or pantomime. Campers will get to explore the world of performance and all that it has to offer!
Camp runs from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday, July 19th through Friday, July 23rd. The camp will be taught by Mrs. Alexis Kinlaw and Ms. Jordan Briggers. $250/child.
Rising 3rd-Rising 8th Graders
“It’s Showtime!” is a 1-week musical theatre performance camp where campers will rehearse and perform the 30-minute musical, Dig It! In Dig It!, the characters travel back in time to explore ancient civilizations as archaeologists through fun and challenging music! Campers will audition on the first day of camp, then spend the week rehearsing the music, choreography, and scene work for the production! The musical will be performed for families on the last day of the camp. This camp is quick-paced and full of song & dance, so is perfect for both new and experienced young actors!
Camp runs from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday, July 26th through Friday, July 30th. The camp will be taught by Mrs. Alexis Kinlaw and TAP Teaching Assistants. $250/child.
Rising 2nd-Rising 5th Graders
This one-week acting camp will culminate in a performance for families at the studio on the final day of camp! Throughout the week the campers will spend their mornings learning acting skills and technique, while their afternoons will be devoted to rehearsing their fairy-tale plays. In addition to acting onstage, the campers will take part in the creation of the props, set, and costumes for their play. This is ideal for elementary children who want to experience both acting and working backstage on the technical elements of a production!
Camp runs from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday, August 2nd through Friday, August 6th. The camp will be taught by Mrs. Alexis Kinlaw and TAP Teaching Assistants. $250/child.
Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr!
June 28-July 11
Rising 3rd-Rising 9th Graders
Our performance session camp is a full-scale performance camp. Lasting 2-weeks, the camp
culminates in a performance of the musical, Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. on the final weekend of
camp at Burning Coal Theatre. The first week of camp takes place at our studio, and the second
at Burning Coal Theatre in downtown Raleigh. Campers will spend their days rehearsing the
music and choreography for their performance of Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. When not
rehearsing, they will spend time working on the technical elements of the show, playing acting
games with teachers, participating in team building activities, and taking part in acting classes.
This camp is ideal for children who want to take on the challenge of putting together a full musical in just two weeks. It is loads of fun and lots of hard work!
CAMP DATES AND TIMES
be provided for the cast between performances)
In order to maximize rehearsal time during the weeks of camp, we will hold auditions prior to
camp beginning. Once accepted into the camp, we will email a sign-up for you to register your
child for a 15-minute audition time slot at the studio (the weekend of June 5th). This will allow us to cast the show and send out music to campers prior to camp beginning!
The show will be directed by Ms. Katie Clarke, with Mrs. Alexis Kinlaw, Mr. Dylan Bailey, and
Ms. Jordan Briggers assisting, teaching classes, and overseeing all technical elements of the show.
COST AND REGISTRATION
Camp costs $500 per child which includes scripts, costumes, and technical fees.
Registration for camp will open at 10am on Saturday, March 13th. To register, email us at
email@example.com. We will accept the first 30 children who register, and begin a wait
list. Please note that we tend to fill our performance sessions very quickly so it’s best to email right at 10:00am. Emails received prior to 10:00am will not be accepted.
This elementary acting class is perfect for new young actors, or for those who have acted
before and want to continue their training. The class will focus on dramatic play as a
means for the children to create solo and group performances, learn improvisation,
develop their acting technique through theatre exercises, and more! The specific content will be driven by the interests and abilities of the children in the class.
This class occurs on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-7:30pm, beginning Tuesday, June 8th and ending on Tuesday, July 27th. $120/child.
This acting class will center around the skills and techniques used in improvisation and
comedy. Many children love to play improv games but struggle with making them
engaging, challenging for their acting partners, or story-based. This class will focus on
specific skills of improvisation that cannot be taught in workshops or during rehearsals
because they take time to hone and develop. If your child enjoys improvisation, or would
like to learn more about it, this class will give them the knowledge and skills to further their abilities!
This class occurs on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8:00pm, beginning Wednesday, June 9th and ending on Wednesday, July 28th. $160/child.
This advanced acting class is our first-ever junior high school class. We are so excited to
provide an acting class for students who have spent years developing their craft and want
to take it further! In this class, emphasis will be placed on individual strengths and honing
the skills that will benefit students in high school acting classes. Children are required to
have some acting background to enroll in this class to guarantee an advanced level of theatre education.
This class occurs on Thursdays from 6:30pm-8:00pm, beginning Thursday, June 10th and ending on Thursday, July 29th. $160/child.
